About Me…
Patrick has the big ears and open mind of a musical seeker. Being a graduate of Davidson Fine Arts in Augusta, Georgia he spent his high school years studying percussion and jazz guitar before moving on to Kennesaw State to further pursue jazz studies. Here he got the chance to study with Trey Wright and began performing regularly with other members of the KSU faculty, including keyboardist Tyrone Jackson and drummer Justin Chesarek.
Upon graduating with a degree in Jazz Guitar Performance he was already making a name for himself in the Atlanta jazz scene, performing regularly with the local heavy hitters and starting groups of his own, stretching his creative ear. Recording sessions soon followed, including Morgan Guerin’s first record “The Saga” as well as a the collective known as “Grüt” that Patrick co-leads with Guerin, Brandon Boone, Daniel Wytanis, and Avys Burroughs. Grüt has released 3 albums so far and toured internationally, they are currently signed with Ropeadope’s label and continue to push the boundaries of creative music.
In 2019 Patrick was selected to attend the Banff Center’s Jazz and Creative Music program, a 3 week intensive with featured composers and improvisers from around the world led by Vijay Iyer and Tyshawn Sorey. This opportunity led to more collaborations with top musicians, including award winning composer and saxophonist Stratøs’ (Eddie Codrington) first album entitled “Planets.”
In addition to maintaining a busy performing and teaching schedule, Patrick is also a recording engineer, having recorded and mixed numerous albums in a variety of styles. He is regularly performing in the Atlanta area and can be found on Tuesday nights at the Waiting Room where he co-hosts a weekly jam session.
